R5-PQ Done !!!!!

My good friend Brad miraculously completed a project he's been working on for a year. Brad built a prototype R5 droid in memory of our son Paul. He named it R5-PQ and used Paul's favorite colors. Paul was with us at MegaCon in 2007 and I'm sure he would be honored from all the hard work Brad poured into this project. It's just amazing to me that he finished it on time. Brad is an AMAZING builder.

I consider the promoters of MegaCon friends of ours and when they found out what Brad was doing they asked if they could print a writeup of Brad's project in the MegaCon program which is pretty cool to Yvonne and me.

But on another note ... I don't know why people are uncomfortable with the fact that a droid was built in honor of our son. Pictures were posted by someone on the R2 forum about R5-PQ and there was not a single response. I have to be honest, that bothers me. It's something that was built by Brad to honor Paul. I think it's one of the nicest things someone could do. I only mentioned Brad's project once before on the R2 forum when I announced MegaCon and got the same zilch response. Must be too heavy of a subject for most people. But it is what it is.

Jim, I think that R5-PQ is an amazing gesture, it looks awesome.

I wish I was closer so I could attend the convention, maybe when things improve on the job front next year.

I once saw a button that said, "Nothing is certain except death and taxes, but at least death doesn't get worse every year".

After losing my dad, my mom, my only brother, and too many friends, I have to disagree. Death does keep getting worse.

But the really weird thing is, life keeps getting better. Every day brings a new discovery, a new joy, and if we work at it, a new accomplishment -- all of them things that the ones we've lost would be happy to share. We know that they'd want us to keep going, keep doing, keep building a better world -- whether it be medical miracles or the smile on the face of a kid who's just seen a really cool robot.

Really cool robot. My deepest sympathies for the loss of Paul.

Thanks for the comment Thomas.

You sound like a pretty in tune guy with a lot of experience in this area unfortunately.

Glad you liked Brad's R5-PQ !
